HELPING YOURSELF WITH REFLEXOLOGY….

One of the beautiful aspects of reflexology is that a person can very easily use it to help themselves. In particular, it can be very effective in quickly alleviating pain or supporting the body to heal itself from a chronic health condition.

In our Library of Reflexology Videos there is a section “Presenting Self-Help Reflexology Techniques”. If you do not find what you are looking for there, I suggest that you browse the videos that present “Hand Reflexology” or “Ear Reflexology”. Hands and ears are so much easier to work with when you are working on yourself. Alternatively, you might want to purchase your own Reflexology DVD.

Similarly, in our Reflexology Library of Publications section under Reflexology For Self-Help there is an extensive list of reflexology self-help books which you might find more convenient to work with.

If you have discomfort in an area of your body, a Reflexology Chart will assist you to find the corresponding reflex for you to stimulate.

The “Health Conditions” section of this website has an alphabetical listing of over 200 health conditions - with a description, known causes, the symptoms and the associated reflexes for each condition. This is a great resource for you to use.

The World Reflexology Foundation (WRF) has a mission to make it possible for everyone in the world to receive the benefits of Reflexology by providing services and instruction in Self-Help and Family-Help Reflexology, locally and globally, working with individuals, groups, organizations and countries. Their workshops are provided free of charge. Trainers volunteer their time and expertise to conduct workshops, although there is a small material fee for the workbooks to cover the costs. Contact them if you are interested in hosting a workshop or wish to be trained as a WRF Volunteer Trainer.

As much as helping yourself with reflexology is a great thing, having another experienced person provide you with reflexology can be much better. If you are receiving reflexology treatments, your professional reflexology practitioner is a great resource for directing you in how you can best help yourself. Combining professional sessions with helping yourself is an excellent strategy for best results.

If you have a concern about your health you are encouraged to seek the guidance of a professional health care provider. This can be a Naturopathic doctor, a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, or a Medical doctor - someone who is trained to diagnose your condition. Once you have a diagnosis, and information about the different alternatives available for treating your condition, you can make an informed choice how to proceed.

Remember, reflexology complements almost all other therapies, and it is not a replacement for medical treatment of medical conditions. You might want to explore the listings of published research studies in our Reflexology Research Journal to discover how reflexology can be beneficial for a wide range of health conditions.
